살아가는 이야기

Hi Betsey~

In the meantime, I tried to send an e-mail, but it was only my heart^^

Last year, I suffered a lot from getting a blood pressure medication wrong.

My body wasn't energized, and if I exercised a little hard, I got dizzy, and the sky looked white all over.

I did not know the cause, so I went to several hospitals.

It was only recently that I learned that it was because I was prescribed too many drugs for high blood pressure.

I can feel my body gradually returning to normal.

Also, I was not motivated by the coronavirus.

We're all scared of this virus, being careful, and trying to obey City Hall's policies.

I definitely want to visit pct in Oregon this year.

But it seems difficult.

These days, I often watch pct videos through YouTube.

Nowadays, the world is becoming more convenient, so it's good to see a lot of pct data easily.

The pct section of Oregon is often referred to as a tunnel in the forest.

I already miss Careater Lake, Three Sisters Mountain, Tuntel Falls, Bridge of the Gods, and so on ^^

There were a lot of wildfires in Oregon last year.

When we go, we expect a lot of recovery.

Me and my family are still doing well.

We go camping together and go on family trips.

The eldest daughter, Heein, has graduated from college, but has yet to find a job.

It may be a global problem, but the coronavirus has made youth unemployment even more serious.

My daughter is still young, so everything will be better.

I have a lot of questions about the political situation in the United States these days.

I thought the United States was a country with democracy far ahead of our country.

But I don't understand what President Trump and his people are doing these days.

In other words, it’s not when our country is worried about the US^^

I want to see Oregon PCT and Betsy as soon as possible.

Hello Mr. Park,

A friend recently gave me a book (Pachinko, by Min Jin Lee) which follows the story of a Korean woman through Korea and Japan in the years leading up to WWII. It is giving me all kinds of wonderful reminders of Korean culture and it makes me miss you and your country. In particular, I read a line about men drinking singing Arirong and it reminded me of how you taught me that song to sing to all the nice old Korean ladies that we encountered. I still remember the song.

I have heard an update recently from Yoohan Song how COVID is affecting life in South Korea. How are things in Jinju? Here, we have many restrictions as well, but as a family with very young children, we were restricted already!! So, we are not feeling the weight of them quite as much as some others. My oldest (now 3 years old) had his preschool closed last spring, but it reopened in the fall. His school is entirely outdoors (they have no building, just a campfire), so we feel comfortable sending him there. My work at the university has been strained, but is still grinding slowly on. We try to work with no more than two people at a time and all meetings are conducted through Zoom.

My family has taken several road trips across the country, mostly to Colorado to see my parents. It is somewhat nerve-wracking (as we do not want to bring the virus to my parents), but we stay outdoors along the way and so far this has worked out.

Of course, our country is now seeing a great increase in political strain, and so we have a new source of worry. I am hoping for the best in the coming weeks, but am not expecting that.

Please write back and tell me how you, your family and friends are weathering the pandemic. I am so pleased to be your friend.

Warmest regards,

betsey
